Hosho plays compositions, both partially notated and/or spontaneously improvised. The realization of the material is a collective effort. Each performance yields new musical results. The pieces are composed to exploit the rhythmic and harmonic potential of the traditional trio format.
Influences range from be-bop and jazz to Asian and African musics. There is a considerable amount of freedom which springs from the interplay of the band. The music is rhythmically propulsive, percussive, and heavily swinging. They are:
