Nødutgang Festivalen

Faust

As part of the celebration of the fact that this is the 5th Nødutgang Festival, and by popular demand, we have invited Faust back. They have changed some of the crew, and appears today as even more experimental, improv as well as tight and samspilt while rocker merged by the majority. This year, Faust consists of Jean-Hervé Peron, Zappi Diermaier, James Johnston and Geraldine Swayne.

In 1970 Polydor Records funded an unusual experiment. They gave some unknown German musicians a stay in the countryside near Hamburg, in a house equipped with a studio with their best technician, and then left them to themselves, free to do as they wished. Thus was Faust founded, the myth cult band, which many believe is the very embodiment of the concept of Krautrock.Influenced by the avant-garde composer Karl-Heinz Stockhausen Faust had a number of ideas that were ahead of time, with the help of studio electronics, cut and paste technique they created music out of the ordinary, that influenced many and still do today. They are also known for usingn both surreal lyrics and the use of unorthodox instruments. On the England tour in 1973 Faust used amongst other things a jackhammer and chain saw on stage.

During the first Nødutgang Festival in 2006, Faust made Sinus rock like no one had done before. Backline had to be collected at Bautas and from the metal recycling scrapyard. They smashed TV screens, played on the cement mixer, with an angle grinder, drill, weld and ironed (!) someones shirt, In addition to playing tough avant-garde rock, songs and improvised music during the two hours they entertained the audience. Finally they smoked down Sinus, so that the premises had to be evacuated. This year, they promised to leave the smoke at home, but the surprises will still be standing in line.
